Prof David Barrett

David’s main areas of interest are production ruminant health and disease, bovine mastitis / milk quality, bovine respiratory disease and veterinary education.

Other clinical/research areas of interest include biosecurity and herd health planning, bovine tuberculosis, impact of animal production methods on food safety, and responsible use of medicines

David is on the board of Antibiotic Action, the global public awareness initiative to inform about drug resistance, and has been a key speaker at events such as the Global Leaders Forum on AMR which informed government ministers ahead of the G7, G20 and UN General Assembly 2016 meetings.  He is also the veterinary representative on the council of the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy.
